Self - Destructive Love Poems for the Sanely Challenged

Love. It's more than just sunshine and butterflies. It hurts, it aches, it drives you insane. Well, it does if you're doing it right.

'Self-Destructive Love Poems for the Sanely Challenged' is an anthology of poems mostly about love, and all the happiness, heartbreak and insanity that goes along with it, heading to a climax that is as uncertain, unpredictable, and whimsical as love itself.

Self-Destructive Love Poems for the Sanely Challenged is a book for anyone interested in exploring the pain, anguish, torment and chaos of the most complicated emotion of all. Even the brightest of emotions has a dark side....
Available to buy NOW right here, from Smashwords,  for $2.99, Self-Destructive Love Poems for the Sanely Challenged is the debut publication of Cory John Eadson, and comes with an introduction from the author himself!

"In this debut book, Eadson proves he's a true master of the romantically macabre - oh yes, there is, indeed, such a thing, as you will discover when you read..." - Vanessa Finaughty, of vanessafinaughtybooks.co.za

Heavier Than Time - The Radio Show

Every Tuesday, 7PM - 9PM on Acacia Radio, I host my very own heavy metal and hard rock radio show, which you can listen to worldwide. I play music from across the ages, covering bands as diverse as Deep Purple, Lamb of God, Rammstein, Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Grave Digger and more. I play plenty of the classics, as well as more obscure bands that are up and coming or just not that well-known.

Every week, there is a featured band segment, in which I give you the rundown on the history of a band or artist, and then play three of their tunes back-to-back.

There is cover of the week, in which I play a song covered by a metal band.

There is the Two-Track Thrash Attack, in which I play two thrash tracks back-to-back.

I also give you the lowdown on all the latest metal news, tell you who's touring, and I play requests (as long as you get them in a few days beforehand!).

So, if you like heavy metal and hard rock, tune in every Tuesday Night, 7PM-9PM (UK Time), for 2 hours of heavy metal madness! The direct link to the player is here. Get ready to rock!

Hating All The Colours - A Poem [DRAFT]

Nuclear explosion
Caught right inside my veins,
Sending surges of rage
To the heart of my brain.

A shadow with a soul,
Born in anger and pain,
Stirred by all the colours -
They're driving me insane.

I hate all the beauty
That surrounds me everyday.
All perfection and joy,
As I, here, waste away.

All that I can do
Is wait until I blow.
Until the bomb inside my heart
Wipes out all that I know.

I never wanted to
Be perfect, like all of you.
Never wanted beauty,
To be a clone, through and through.

The blue inside my eyes,
Betrays my bleak, dark heart.
Too deep inside the shadows
For me to make a fresh start.

Gone - A Poem

Stalking the shadows,
I make love to the night.
Worshipping the black,
The darkness is my guide.

Sharp shards of my dreams
Cut deep into my mind,
I'm trying to forget
The hope that I can't find.

Hope bleeds from my heart,
As I reach your frozen self.
A solid memory from my past,
That left me when I fell.

Illuminated by
The big yellow moon,
I stroke your empty face
Like ivy strokes a tomb.

“Sorry...” tumbles out,
A few times, I say it.
But like stones upon glass,
The word has no effect.

Then I close my eyes,
And tell you I was wrong,
But I find that I'm too late,
For when I look again,

You're gone....

Listen To This! - Joker's Song

The band Miracle of Sound have based their entire career on writing songs about console games. And not only that, but their songs pay fitting tribute to the subject matter, the band not fit to plunge for obvious cheesiness just for the sake of it. True, some of their tracks are humorous, but they all show a respect for the games they are inspired by.

To date, Miracle of Sound have done two Batman songs, inspired by the frankly perfect Arkham Asylum and Arkham City games. Joker's Song is essential listening for any Bat-fan. The lyrics beautifully highlight the bizarre, juxtaposing relationshio between the Joker and 'Bats', sung from Mr J's point of view, and how they need each other.
I get shivers every time I hear:

Someday I will replace
That big frown on your face
With a smile and a murderous glare

Although based on the Arkham City game, this song could be attributed to any version of the Joker, and any incarnation of Batman, from the dark and moody comics of the 80s, to Jack Nicholson's incredible 1989 performance, Heath Ledger's psycho-terrorist, or even the glorious animated series Joker (and the singer does a superb Mark Hamill impression throughout this track!).

In short, listen to this song. Again and again. It's a masterpiece. This year is the year of perhaps the biggest Batman film to date, so let's celebrate it in style, by paying homage to the ever-twisted, ever-insane Joker! Because "Face it Bats, you'd be lost without me!"

Flash Fiction - 'Once Upon A Time' Writing Contest - 'Three Simple Words'

Anne Meade and Susi Holliday, of the wonderful Yearning For Wonderland Blog, regularly host writing competitions for Flash Fiction Once Upon A Time. Here is my entry, at 350 exactly...

Three Simple Words

“I can't do this!” Anna cried to herself, gazing at a picture of that young, handsome man on her computer screen. Max. His perfect blue eyes, and shoulder length blonde hair promised so much, as much as his tender words, shared with her over countless phone calls and emails over the past four months.

“You can, my dear....” came a cheerful reply from behind her.

She turned her head to see Rael, her imaginary friend since childhood, perched on the windowsill with his arms folded as tightly as the black wings on his back. His piercing green eyes seemed to burrow into her soul.

“He's going to say those three simple words, I am certain!”

Anna shook her head angrily, wrenching her gaze from that infuriating idiot. How could a personification of her own inner-thoughts exude such confidence?

“But he hasn't seen the real me, hasn't seen....” Her voice faltered, as she brushed away a strand of brown hair to reveal a deep scar, trailing from the left side of her forehead down to her cheek; her left eye made of glass.

*

Rael's words stuck in Anna's head as she hurried through the busy town to meet Max for the first time. Her stomach was doing somersaults. How could Rael be so certain of Max's reaction? He was a guy. Guy's went for looks. She'd been bullied all her life because of the scarring, nobody had looked at her twice. Why should that change now? Because she'd told him her life story?

She found him, leaning against a wall outside a coffee shop, his eyes as blue as the sky. Her blood ran cold, and she wanted to turn and run, but too late. He'd seen her. He was already standing before her. His gaze already lingering on that badly-hidden scar.

Okay, she thought, blushing severely, let me down gently...

Then Max's eyes met hers, he smiled a big, broad smile. Then he leaned forward, whispered tenderly into her ear...

“You are beautiful....”

The three simple words she had always wanted to hear.
